Chief Engineer – West End - £65-70k, Hotels Environment 

The Chief Engineer is responsible for all maintenance issues within the hotel before, during and after the hotel’s opening, performing maintenance checks, and overseeing the engineering team to deliver an excellent guest and staff service and experience. The Chief Engineer is required to manage renovation projects, develop emergency programs, and take on special projects as assigned by the General Manager and/or the Global Operations team.

 

The Chief Engineer will be responsible to perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Manage the Engineering Team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules

  • Communicate with the Rooms department to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for guest rooms and public areas

  • Develop systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of guests and team members, as well as the proper conditions for plants, machinery, and property

  • Prepare and control the Engineering budget to meet targets

  • Perform necessary regular checks around the hotel

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment within the hotel

  • Ensure good relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Maintenance of all hotel fixtures and fittings to ensure they are in safe condition and take action when any unsafe situations arise.

  • Develop, implement and manage energy conservation programs for the property to minimize expenses.

  • Proficient in all Maintenance procedures within a hotel environment with a proven track record in a similar role.

  • Able to demonstrate excellent standards and team member management.

  • Strong Health and Safety / Admin background.

  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

  • Can demonstrate excellent time management.

  • Fluent in English. Other languages desirable.
