In what has been a challenging year for the UK jobs market, we recognise the difficulties placed on our clients and candidates in the built environment sector, in particular those in hospitality who are continuing to navigate a tough festive period.
However, PRS has seen some significant positive signs of recovery, in particular in Q4. In the 4 weeks leading up to Christmas we recorded a record level of vacancies for the period, increasing by up 4% on 2019. Weekly vacancies registered have also increased by over 200 per week, outperforming Q1 2020 by 6%.
The strongest performing sectors are executive and white collar recruitment, critical engineering and cleaning services, which have seen a growth of 18% on 2019.
Geographically, our Northern Operations, based Birmingham to Newcastle, closed 2020 with a record year. Business levels closed 3% up on 2019. This creates a strong foundation for our regional growth plans in 2021.
Salaries on average have held firm in the technical and engineering market, with perhaps a slight upward shift for critical data centre environments(average salaries now £45,600).
We are also pleased to see our customer base broadly accept Living Wage over National Minimum Wage, a testament to the role cleaning services has held throughout the pandemic.
Overall, 2021 is looking positive for the jobs market in the property sector despite the challenges of recovery.
We would like to thank our amazing clients and candidates for your support in 2020 and wish you all a safe and peaceful holiday season.
