Senior Engineer / Area Manager
Bristol & South West
Property & Real Estate Business
Circa £55k + Benefits
Our customer are a well established commercial and residential real estate organisation, who operate nationally from offices in London and Bristol. helping to advise their customers with regards to Mechanical, Electrical, Energy & Sustainability across their client base in the built environment. Having seen a sharp increase in demand for their services over the last few years, and with a good team operating out of their London office who are able to support their business in the South East, they seek a technically minded contract/engineering manager to be based out of their Bristol office. This will involve liaising with end users and managing agent clients nationwide with regards to design, projects, maintenance, energy efficiency, all within the built environment. While this position will be based out of the Bristol office, there will be a strong component of travel involved to visit prospective customers, commercial sites such as multi-tenant office buildings, commercial and industrial estates, etc. Guideline salary for this position is up to £55,000 as a basic salary, as well as an attractive benefits package which includes car allowance (mileage covered for travel outside of commute to office), a performance related bonus, pension scheme, etc.
Candidates will be fully qualified in electrical or mechanical engineering, ideally through a full apprenticeship, while education such as HND/Degree Level qualification in Mech/Elec/Building Services Engineering is desireable. In terms of practical experience, ideally this will take the form of existing M&E consultancy experience or a minimum of three years in a contract/technical management role for a 3rd party M&E services provider. Additional training such as IOSH Managing Safely/NEBOSH, PRINCE2, etc will be beneficial, with particular duties including:
- Asset Verification
- Lifecycle analysis of M&E plant
- Dilapidation Reports
- Energy Efficiency surveys
- Technical Report writing
- Contract Tender Advice
- Project Works – plant replacement, office moves, etc.
- Provide advice & guidance to SMEs and funds
- Carry out a range of technical and strategic low carbon consultancy projects
- Engage with clients from both the private and public sector
Their client base are commercial real estate organisations, managing agents and end users – as such a customer facing and personal approach are key, as well as being able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously. With the nature of report writing, candidates must also possess good computer literacy.
This is a great opportunity for an existing senior/consulting engineer in the industry to join growing firms, or alternatively a chance for someone perhaps on the M&E contractor side, working within facilities maintenance, to move into a specialized field with a varied client based and different sites, breaking up the monotony of managing the same building/s week in and week out. Working for a well-established company (over 100 years in the property business), with a real family feel and many of the staff having held long tenured roles within the Surveying / M&E consultancy teams.
