As Business Development Manager, you will prospect new business by advertising, networking, cold calling, or other methods of producing interest from potential clients. Then you will design persuasive approaches and proposals to convert potential clients into business customers. By presenting new solutions and services to clients, you will develop and maintain existing accounts.
This is a UK-wide role and some travel and overnight stays may be required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE POST
1. To identify and build a long-term active pipeline, resulting in tender opportunities.
2. Creating strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities in line with Company target sectors.
3. Negotiate and successfully close sales opportunities to meet and exceed agreed sales targets within the target markets agreed.
4. Building relationships with new clients, gauging their needs and ensuring our proposals meet those needs
5. Support the tendering process as required, including internal and external tender meetings, visits and presentations
6. Maintain the Company CRM database including contacts, opportunities, meetings and significant communication
7. Provide a monthly report detailing activity, sales pipeline, sales forecast and progress against annual sales targets
8. Attending conferences and events to build relationships with industry partners, raise Company profile and keep up to date with market trends.
9. Assisting the Commercial team to produce PQQ documents, tender documents, etc
10. Assisting preparation of mobilisation/handover documentation where required
11. All other day-to-day activities to support successful tendering activities and securing new work
12. Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values.
13. Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all other departments.
14. Attend client meetings and presentations
15. Attend/Instigate corporate hospitality events
16. Support the Directors and Senior Management as required advancing the aims of the business
QUALITY / HEALTH & SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL (QHSE)
1. Ensure compliance with legislative and company health and safety requirements
2. Ensure compliance with legislative and company environmental policies
3. Contribute to a safe working environment
4. Adhere to applicable risk assessments and the control measures detailed within.
5. Produce and review risk assessments and method statements for all contract activities.
6. Report accidents and near misses, H&S issues, complaints and incidents to line manager and assist in resolving these issues.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
1. Number and value of new activities and enquires generated within target sectors
2. Quality of the sales pipeline
3. Net growth – tenders won
4. Networking events attended and the connections made
5. Existing client engagement
6. Identification of cross-selling opportunities within the Group
7. Supporting the wider BD Team to ensure competitive, quality and timely tender submissions.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Experience within the M&E maintenance industry
2. Track record of client/account management and developing new business
3. Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Project.
4. Knowledge and experience in the management of health & safety
5. A valid UK driving licence.
