Energy Services Engineer £50,000

Job Summary:

 

To undertake proactive performance monitoring and energy analysis of several long-term district energy systems including problem solving, metering fault diagnosis, project improvements and regular energy consumption reporting.

Working with the wider Energy Services team, be responsible for the data gathering, monitoring, analysis and support billing preparation activities

The post holder will be required to undertake training on bespoke energy metering systems to eventually become system expert for the department.

The role will require commitment and a proactive and flexible approach to with the opportunity to undertake initiatives and make it their own. It is expected that over time, the Energy Services Engineer will take on additional responsibilities associated with the growth and development of the core schemes across the Docklands estate.

Salary £50,000 dependent on experience.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing analysis of the energy schemes, diagnosis and recommendations for rectification to ensure that energy is delivered consistently and efficiently to meet operational and financial requirements.
  • Ensure accurate metering and monitoring of energy schemes to record customer consumption and billing. Maximise energy scheme margins through correct utilisation of energy generating plant.
  • Full compliance with all UK regulatory schemes
  • Continuous monitoring of energy schemes to ensure energy losses and poor plant performance are kept to a minimum.
  • Investigate new market products in line with continuous improvement and emerging technologies within the energy industry.
  • Support the development of energy bench-marking tools.
  • Utilise and maintain various Energy Management Systems to deliver regular metering data and analysis.
  • Close and continuous monitoring and fault diagnosis
  • Prepare and review monthly reports for operational performance and energy usage and implement any action defined therein to ensure optimum plant operation.
  • Assist the Associate Director with the formulation of annual energy budgets
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with key colleagues and customers and be a lead point of contact for all matters relating to energy and meter billing queries.
  • Support the Associate Director at an operational level in order to deliver service excellence.

What We Require of You:

  • Degree / HNC or equivalent in an appropriate Engineering subject
  • An aptitude for Controls and Metering Systems or willingness to learn and develop.
  • Experience of District Energy Schemes desirable particularly in the operation of heating, cooling and power generation plants with high levels of availability, output and efficiency
  • Innovative and hands-on approach
  • Highly organised with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills essential including Microsoft Office and database systems in order to collate and manipulate data.
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety and Statutory compliance
  • Ability to drive through self-managed projects and achieve deadlines.
  • Able to work unsupervised and on-site locations and function as part of a team.
