Slough – New Build
Continental Shift Pattern

Our customer are one of the largest commercial real estate organisations on the planet, who have a number of critical contracts (data centres, banking, etc) across the UK, Europe and globally. Mobilising a newly built data centre in the Slough area, they seek a multi-skilled shift leader to join their existing team, which will help deliver planned and reactive maintenance to electrical, mechanical and critical systems within an N+1 environment. Working on a 24/7 “continental” shift pattern, managing an M&E shift engineer, and reporting into a data centre supervisor and ultimately data centre manager. Guideline salary for this position is circa £50-54k basic, with annual bonus, guaranteed overtime and an industry leading pension scheme.
Candidates will be fully qualified in mechanical or electrical engineering, ideally through a full apprenticeship, and with at least three years of shift supervisor experience within a critical (data centre, financial services, pharma) or other commercial environment. Along with core electrical or mechanical qualifications, additional training such as HV/LV authorisation, 2391, F-Gas, etc will all be beneficial. Particular working knowledge of plant and systems will include:
Electrical & Mechanical Failf-Finding, Single & Three Phase Power, Emergency Lighting, Fire Alarms, BMS Operation, Air Handling & Fan Coil Units, VRV/VRFs, HV & LV Distribution (Switching, Writing Schedules, Permits), Diesel Generators, Load Bank Testing, UPS (Static & Rotary), 1st line Chiller & Boilers, Close Control AC Units, PDUs, VESDA, Water Treatment, etc.
This is a rare opportunity to join a newly built data centre, to be involved with the set up of site from day one, and for a company that offer some of the best benefits in the sector – 12% Pension, Bonus scheme, guaranteed OT, etc. This position will suit existing data centre M&E engineers, or experienced shift leaders interested in a move into the sector. Working in the Slough area, this will perhaps be of appeal to those travelling into Central London, and looking to work closer to home.
