Audio and Visual Technician
 
Summary:
 
The Audio and Visual Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining audio and visual equipment. The technician will work with a team to ensure that all audio and visual elements are working properly.
 
Operations
 

  • Responsible for the completion of daily checks and start-up / close down procedures. These must be completed in a timely manner and in accordance with all procedures, documentation, and training. 
  • Test and troubleshoot audio and visual equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Stay current with new technologies and equipment in the audio and visual industry
  • Ensure critical asset downtime is minimised, through the day-to-day maintenance of the PPM system, asset register and robust stock control procedures. Where possible, the job holder will be expected to              repair show related hardware including (but not limited to) video projectors, show lighting, and show audio. 
  • Ensure reactive jobs to improve H&S, welfare and customer / staff experience are logged appropriately and all relevant information is supplied to the relevant managers or teams. 
  • Ensure all Statutory, Legislative, Planned Preventative Maintenance and Work Order checks works have been completed on time. 
  • Ensure the correct installation and editing of both video and audio to various types of media players at the request of other departments and provide support to those requests such as events, entertainments, or marketing. 
  • Work alongside other technical departments within the London attractions (and the greater Merlin attractions group) to build relationships, share knowledge and develop best practise. 
  • Ensure all technical staff have the relevant resources to carry out their responsibilities to the best standards possible. 
  • Provide audio visual support to other Midway UK attractions as requested by the Midway UK Technical Director. 
  • Update Planet Enterprise with full and comprehensive update notes on all Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules and Work Orders.  
  • Assist with the control of contractors through the relevant systems and procedure utilised in the London Cluster Attractions. 

  Marketing. 
 

  • Provide support to marketing with all on site activities. 
  • Provide advice / assistance to marketing on proposals and possible events. 
  • Work effectively with the Marketing and Press personal on all projects that promote the business.  
  • Assist with the control and supervision of contractors employed by Press or Marketing. 
  • Assist with all marketing related Capex Projects. 

 
 
Financial. 
 

  • Assist Head of Technical in delivery of Capex Projects.  
  • Assist Senior Technical Services Manager to remain in budgetary control by effective use of stock, equipment, and tools.  
  • Proactively seek to identify cost efficiencies through continuous improvement processes.  
  • Reduce external contractor costs through effective use of onsite skills.  

Development. 
 

  • Drive development through effective goal setting and achievement of goals through the PDP process.  
  • Attend technical training to develop skills and actively seek out other technical services personnel to broaden skill range and show flexibility by working within the attraction environment.  
  • Proactive use of personal development plan, completing paperwork within set deadlines. 

Qualifications:
 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in audio engineering, television production or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with audio and visual equipment
  • Strong understanding of audio and visual equipment and technology
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
