PRS are working with a long standing client assisting them in their search for an experienced Business Development Manager. Our client is well known within the UK housing market for Communal and District Heating across a range of technologies including air and ground source heat pumps, and have an extensive portfoilio of clients.

ROLE: Business Development Manager
LOCATION: Field Based covering the Midlands
SALARY: £50,000 base with a £3,000 car allowance with OTE of £75,000

They are a specialist energy and water management company, that operates in the UK, Germany, Spain, Holland and India.
In the UK, Our client specialises in energy efficiency investment projects and the decarbonisation of heat, adding value to its clients in a number of ways from high quality project delivery, provision of funding solutions and technical consultancy services.
They are a market leader in the UK housing market for Communal and District Heating across a range of technologies including air and ground source heat pumps, and have an extensive portfoilio of clients.

Purpose of the Job

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will extensively network across the Midlands to find new customers for heat decarbonisation delivery projects, Public Sector Decarbonisation schemes and energy efficiency programmes, developing a repeat client base. The BDM will be responsible for securing new opportunities and converting them into contract.

 The BDM will support the Head of Commercial Energy, and Key Account Manager in account managing our existing customers in the region, leveraging our clients existing client base to drive repeat business, lead finding and writing high value bids and developing proposals.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

·       Develop and own expanded network of repeat public sector clients in the Midlands.
·       Develop key network of private sector opportunities
·       Develop proposals for new heat decarbonisation projects including technology appraisals and commercials
      Produce high quality responses, commercial models & administration for tenders
·       Lead proposal / tender strategy for own opportunities, in liaison with Head of Commercial Energy
·       Project manage range of activities and projects as required
·       Liaise closely with Engineering and Operations team to develop optimum client solutions
·       Plan, contribute and manage our clients lead generation activities in region
·       Develop and attend promotional events
·       Develop and maintain project plans including performance, reporting and ensure projects are delivered according to quality processes
·       Manage pipeline of allocated / developed accounts and provide regular updates on changes to the Director 
·       Grow business area market share in region
·       Support Delivery and Finance teams in the allocation of Project Purchase Orders from clients, invoicing and cash collect


Person Specification


·               Educated to degree level with proven experience and success in a sales environment (minimum 3 years)
·               Confidence, tenacity and drive
·               Ability to communicate at all levels
·               Ability to communicate complex proposals simply
·               Bid writing experience, ability to write high quality project proposals
·               Good commercial acumen
·               Ability to gain confidence of clients and create strong working relationships


·               Experience of developing energy efficiency / M&E projects
·               Experience of UK Public Sector / Decarbonisation market
·               Experience of NHS
·               Understanding of district heating market / heat pumps
