Our customer are one of the largest data centre organisations globally, and who self deliver M&E as well as IT services, have a requirement for electrical bias shift engineers to be based at one of their long-standing sites in the North West London/Hertfordshire area. Working on a 24/7 "continental" shift pattern as part of a multi-skilled team, they provide planned and reactive maintenance to electrical and HVAC systems for the building to ensure continuous operation of the critical back up and cooling. Reporting into shift leader, and on-site management team, part of the role will be in escorting specialist subcontractors across the premises. Salary for these positions are £42,500 basic salary, along with a bonus (10%), private healthcare, pension scheme, and guaranteed OT in the form of shift cover for colleagues.
Candidates must be electrically qualified, ideally through a full apprenticeship, with a minimum of three years of relevant building services experience. Along with core electrical qualifications, additional training such as 2391, F-Gas, LV/HV authorisation will be beneficial. Particular working knowledge should include:
Electrical fault-finding, single & three phase power, emergency lighting, fire alarms, BMS operation, air handling & fan coil units, VAV/VRFs, motors, pumps, UPS systems (static & Rotary), diesel generators, CRAC Units & Chillers, water treatment, etc.
This organisation are a market leader in their field, with a huge portfolio of sites across the United States, Europe, Middle East and Africa. As such there are a wealth of opportunities for personal and career development through training and the opportunity to transfer to other sites in future. Technical training can take the form of LV & HV Authorisation courses, and then later an additional annual bonus then being paid for successful completion and holding AP status.
With the role being outside of London in Hertfordshire, and it working for a company who self deliver their M&E maintenance, this represents a rare opportunity. It could well suit those building services / electrical engineers tired of the commute into central London, or those looking to move away from working for 3rd party M&E maintenance contractors and into a more inclusive, collaborative set-up as part of the inhouse team.
