Job descriptionWe are recruiting for a Controls and Instrument Engineer to join a maintenance team on an industrial facility in the Cheshire East area.
To carry out scheduled maintenance, fault finding, repairs, de-commissioning and re-commissioning on a wide range of power plant, systems and equipment.
The role is a permanent position Mon-Fri circa 7am-3pm. Paying between 31000-39500 depending on experience and entry level skills. Overtime available on shutdowns (x1.5 & x2.0).
Responsible for minor installations work and maintenance of site Control and Instrumentation systems including Compressed Air, Steam, Pressure, Water and Gas ensuring that all equipment within responsibility and control is correctly operated, maintained and repaired, maximising plant operational efficiency and ensuring the safety of oneself and others at all times.
Reporting to the Building Manager, the Technician shall undertake the role with minimum supervision, maintaining a flexible approach, focusing on the needs of the Client and effectively following the quality processes and procedures put in place, including pro-actively identifying areas for improvement.
Diagnose and repair faults on Control and Instrumentation systems and plant
Undertake preventative, predictive and emergency maintenance work in order to meet plant reliability and performance targets
Support others in fault diagnosis and repairs as necessary always ensuring a high level of General Safety
Create and maintain high quality records and reports of maintenance activities to deliver useful plant history data which complies with all relevant statutory requirements
Ability to work in a customer focused environment where quality and image is very important
Ensure all record keeping functions are completed on a daily basis or as required
Pro-active approach to SHEQ and identifying areas for improvement
Working flexibly within a team, contributes to defined operational and maintenance requirements in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with SHEQ
procedures, to deliver identified targets
Ensure any parts required are clearly and accurately stated and procured within the Maintenance Management System and Procurement Systems
Demonstrates an awareness and understanding of headline contract requirements
Has the ability to undertake basic PLC-SCADA software programming / interrogation
Undertakes calibration routines on a range of field instruments
Appointed as Competent Persons (CP) or equivalent
Has a detailed knowledge of the relevant Safety Rules and supporting Codes of Practice
Qualifications or Required Experience:
Knowledge and preferably proven experience and delivery of process plant operations, engineering and maintenance
Knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety legislation and its impact on day to day operations
An understanding of the processes and systems required to develop and maintain a high standard of work quality
Minimum of BTEC National Certificate/City and Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in a Mechanical, Controls or Electrical discipline
A formal health and safety related qualification e.g. IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) trained (desirable)
Good fault finding and diagnostic skills
Good IT Skills having experience in operating a range of Systems including Microsoft Office Suite and Maintenance Management System
