Data Cable Engineer

Job Title: Data Cable Engineers
Location: Porton Down, Wiltshire
Start Date: Immediate Start
Type: temporary 3 weeks minimum
Hourly Rate: £17/18ph
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm

Are you experienced in Data Cabling within the commercial environment?

PRS Southampton is looking for 4 hands on Data Cable Engineers work on a static commercial site in Porton Down, Wiltshire.

Key Responsibilities:
1- Data cable installation of copper and fibre cabling, Cat5e, CAT6a, OM4, OS2, telephone cables
2- CAT6a cable termination via patch panels, both modular and punch down.
3- Use of Fluke DSX5000/8000 or similar test equipment.
4- Fault finding.
5- Installation or data racks & cabinets and accessories, management bars, earthing active equipment.
6- Internal cabinet patching, labelling and dressing cables.
7- Working to high installation standards
8- Installation of containment, including basket, tray, conduit.
9- Follow cable installation routing and labelling requirements.

The ideal candidate should have experience working as a Data Cable Engineer within commercial buildings, be able to think on their feet and require little direction.

The role is Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm

Desirable Requirements:
• Experience with Cat5 and Cat6 Cabling and terminating
• Ability to organise and prioritise workloads
• Installation of fire stopping and transit windows.
• Personable and 'work with' attitude
• Ability to work upon own initiative
• Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal)
• Creative and strong problem-solving skills
• Show a good attention to detail
• Be driven, motivated and enthusiastic
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Customer focused
• Full UK driving licence
• 1-2 years experience in containment, racks, and cabinets.
• Knowledge & experience setting up and using a Fluke DSX 5000/8000 tester
• Be able to work as part of a team and independently.
• Highly motivated.
• Good communicator.
• Be flexible to work extra hours and weekends.
• DBS checked
