Job description

I am working with a very well respected facilities company based in the city and they are looking for a well rounded, driven Fleet Manager who is willing to look after a global fleet of around 80 cars. They are genuinely a great company to work for and they look after their staff. 

Purpose of the role         

 
A Fleet Manager ensures that a company’s transport operations are safe, efficient and profitable - purchasing or leasing the appropriate vehicles, scheduling regular vehicle maintenance and managing all related services and facilities such as insurance, making recommendations to management regarding more effective processes, highlighting operational or technical challenges.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all day-to-day operational aspects of fleet management.
  • Analysis, reporting, budgeting, supervising and support in negotiating.
  • Working closely with management to develop strategies for improved cost efficiency.
  • Ensuring that a fleet of vehicles is operating in accordance with legislation and regulations.
  • Communicating with insurance partners and organising the appropriate insurance for drivers and vehicles.
  • Assisting with the drafting and implementation of effective policies and processes regarding fleet operations.
  • Managing strict vehicle maintenance and servicing schedules to minimise downtime.
  • Monitoring driver behaviour and recommending disciplinary action where necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of vehicle inspections and services.
  • Monitoring fleet costs and ensuring that they remain within budget.
  • Stakeholder engagement to establish and manage strong working relationships with all key stakeholders to develop, document and coordinate deployment of the Project Execution Plan. Work closely with senior management to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the projects.
  • Manage overall fleet management budget and P/L, meeting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Works with external partners such as contractors and consultants to define and document questions, understand requirements and explain feasibility.
  • Ensure minimum standards of Safety, Quality and Environment at all times. Embed Safety as the highest priority in all Fleet Management activities.
  • Policies, Processes and Procedures: Ensure engagement of existing policies, process and procedures as a first preference whenever possible.
  • Liaison with programme management and related sub-projects/work-streams to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated.
Requirements for the role

This work involves analysis, reflection, and the use of data over a longer period of time, in order to anticipate problems. It requires knowledge of the overall system and focuses on the direct application and improvement of systems.

Degree Educated essential.
Relevant Tertiary qualifications such as project management an advantage.
IOSH Accreditation an advantage.
 
Technical Skills
           
Successful background in delivering projects in a complex and demanding business, ideally gained within blue chip company.
Experience of leading and developing teams and managing contractor relationships.
Good understanding and practical knowledge of project management, building systems, build techniques, move management within the interior fit out/internal construction industry.
Ability to influence and advise in regard to differing agendas, with success.
Experience working with and communicating with external contractors & suppliers.
Microsoft packages including MS Project and Auto CAD.
Time management, ability to prioritise and multitask.
 
Social Process Skills
 
High level of verbal and written communication skills & ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the business.
Ability to facilitate agreement and co-operation using a diplomatic and open approach.
