Shift Mechanical Engineer – Cardiff (Static Site)
Location: Cardiff
Hours: 4 on 4 off – Days & Nights (12-hour shifts)
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP
Site Type: Static commercial site
Our client is looking for a skilled Shift Mechanical Engineer to join the on-site maintenance team at a large, modern facility in Cardiff.
This is a permanent role working on a static site with a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, covering both days and nights. Ideal for someone with strong mechanical building services experience looking for stability and progression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs) on HVAC and mechanical plant
- Respond to reactive issues on equipment such as pumps, valves, pipework, AHUs, FCUs, and water systems
- Basic plumbing and mechanical repairs across the site
- Support the operation of critical plant including chilled water systems, heating circuits, ventilation systems, and boilers
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety standards and site regulations
- Complete relevant documentation and maintain accurate maintenance records
- Assist other engineers and contribute to general site maintenance as required
Requirements:
- Recognised mechanical qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Engineering or Plumbing)
- Proven experience in commercial or critical building maintenance
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, heating systems, and mechanical plant
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently on shift and follow site procedures
- Strong communication and reporting ability
