Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) – City of LondonA leading Facilities Management provider is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical bias to support a large, high-profile commercial building in the City of London. This role is ideal for an electrically qualified engineer who is confident working on complex building services while supporting basic mechanical systems as required.
The Role
The Multi-Skilled Engineer will take primary responsibility for the electrical infrastructure across the building, ensuring all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory requirements. Working within a professional on-site engineering team, the role involves a mix of planned maintenance, reactive fault finding, and technical support in a fast-paced commercial environment.
This position suits an engineer who is hands-on, methodical, and comfortable working in a client-facing setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting, and critical systems.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults quickly and safely to minimise disruption to building operations.
- Support mechanical plant and building services where required, including basic HVAC, pumps, and motors.
- Ensure all electrical works comply with current regulations, site procedures, and health & safety standards.
- Complete maintenance reports, compliance documentation, and job records accurately.
- Liaise with supervisors, subcontractors, and the wider facilities team to support daily site operations.
- Maintain a professional standard of work and conduct within a high-end commercial environment.
The successful candidate will be an electrically biased engineer with experience in facilities management or commercial building maintenance. They will be reliable, well-organised, and capable of working independently while contributing positively to the wider engineering team.
Essential Requirements
- Electrical qualification to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance within commercial or FM environments.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Sound understanding of health & safety legislation and safe systems of work.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach.
- Test & Inspection (2391 or equivalent).
- Experience in large, complex commercial buildings.
- Familiarity with CAFM systems and planned maintenance schedules.
