Mechanical Shift Leader – £51,500 – Liverpool StreetWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Shift Leader to join a high-profile site based near Liverpool Street. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established building services provider, working on a critical and fast-paced site.
The Role
As a Mechanical Shift Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers while ensuring all mechanical systems and plant are maintained to the highest standards. You will play a key role in delivering both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational efficiency across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive mechanical maintenance across all site assets.
- Ensure all mechanical plant and equipment remain safe, compliant, and fully operational at all times.
- Take ownership of plant faults and defects, ensuring swift diagnosis and resolution to minimise downtime.
- Maintain accurate records relating to Health & Safety, statutory compliance, and quality assurance.
- Supervise subcontractors, ensuring all work meets contractual requirements and is carried out safely under approved systems of work.
- Ensure availability of mechanical spares and critical parts to support maintenance activities.
- Complete and review all maintenance documentation, including job sheets and system updates.
- Prepare and implement Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS) for all maintenance tasks.
- Lead, manage, and coordinate the shift engineering team, ensuring effective performance and task allocation.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact on shift.
- Conduct annual appraisals and support the development of shift engineers through structured training plans.
- Ensure all assigned tasks are completed efficiently, making best use of available resources.
- Proven experience in a Mechanical Shift Leader or Supervisory role within building services or a critical environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, pumps, motors, and associated plant.
- Experience managing teams and subcontractors.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant mechanical qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent).
- Salary: £51,500 per annum
