Our client are one of the leading commercial M&E maintenance providers, with a number of high-profile customers across sectors including real estate, financial services, pharmaceutical, etc. With recent award of one of the highest-profile contracts (scope / ambition), and gradual mobilisation of the engineering delivery team, they now seek electrical-bias M&E engineers to join their existing and growing team, based in the West London area. This will eventually comprise a mixed-use development and include elements of both commercial office, residential and retail space, as well as live entertainment (concerts, sporting, etc). Curently working on a Monday-Friday basis until “go live” in April 2026, the team will be adopting a 24/7 “4 on / 4 off” shift pattern after handover from main contractor. Basic salary for these positions is fixed at £50,000 and also includes a shift allowance of £5,000.
Candidates must be fully qualified in electrical engineering, ideally through a full apprenticeship, and possess 5+ years experience in a similar shift role within commercial building services / FM. Additional training such as 2391, Low / High Voltage Authorisation F-Gas, Water Treatment, Cooling Towers, etc will be beneficial. Typical duties within the role are as follows;
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, servicing, and repairs of electrical & mechanical systems and equipment such as HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and other assets
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance to ensure the ongoing reliability and efficiency of systems.
- Respond promptly and effectively to faults, breakdowns, and emergency situations, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues using appropriate tools and techniques, and determine the most effective course of action for repair.
- Coordinate and liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely resolution of engineering issues and maintenance requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, equipment data, and any necessary documentation.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines and regulations at all times, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and those around you.
- Stay informed about industry trends, advances in technology, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to enhance maintenance processes and procedures.
- Proven experience as an M&E Engineer or similar role, ideally within a facilities management or property services environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery, including HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and associated controls.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults, and conducting planned preventative maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work swiftly under pressure to resolve issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
- Flexibility to work on shifts and participate in an on-call rota.
- Overtime x1.5 on weekday and x2 on weekends + day in lieu on bank holidays
