Job Title: HVAP Shift Lead – Critical EnvironmentLocation: City of London
Shift Pattern: Continental Shift (Days & Nights)
Salary: Up to £60k + Shift Allowance
The Opportunity
A leading Facilities Management provider is seeking an experienced HVAP Electrical Shift Lead to take a key position at a large, high-profile banking site in the City of London.
This is a critical environment where uptime is non-negotiable. The successful candidate will lead from the front on shift, overseeing electrical operations and ensuring all systems perform reliably under constant demand. It’s a role that combines technical authority, leadership, and accountability. - Act as the lead engineer on shift, overseeing all electrical operations
- Operate as the site’s HV Authorised Person (HVAP), ensuring safe control of HV systems
- Carry out and supervise planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive works
- Manage and respond to critical incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
- Monitor and maintain HV/LV systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and associated plant
- Ensure all works are completed in line with safe systems of work and permit procedures
- Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers on shift
- Maintain accurate shift logs, reports, and compliance records
- Liaise with management, clients, and subcontractors where required
The organisation is looking for a confident and experienced electrical engineer who is comfortable taking the lead in a critical environment. The right candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with a calm, methodical approach.
Essential:
- Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ / C&G Level 3 or equivalent)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Proven experience operating as an HV Authorised Person (HVAP)
- Strong background in critical environments (banking, data centres, etc.)
- Experience working within a shift environment
- Excellent fault-finding and decision-making skills
- Previous experience as a Shift Lead or Supervisor
- Familiarity with BMS and control systems
- Experience managing or mentoring engineers on shift
