Facilities & General Services AssistantLocation: Southampton
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Salary: £28,700 per annum
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Facilities & General Services Assistant to join a busy facilities team on a professional client site.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be responsible for supporting a range of workplace services including post room operations, porterage, reprographics, deliveries, and general facilities support. We’re looking for someone who is organised, customer-focused, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities for a Facilities & General Services Assistant:
- Managing incoming and outgoing post, parcels, and courier deliveries
- Sorting and distributing internal and external mail
- Completing printing, copying, scanning, and finishing requests
- Supporting the production of ID badges and staff photographs
- Responding to porterage requests and moving furniture and equipment around the site
- Assisting with office moves and room set-ups
- Ordering stationery and workplace consumables
- Maintaining accurate records and completing administrative tasks
- Using Microsoft Office and internal systems to manage requests
- Keeping work areas clean, organised, and well maintained
- Providing excellent customer service to colleagues and visitors
- Supporting the wider facilities team with ad hoc duties as required
Essential Requirements for a Facilities & General Services Assistant:
- Previous experience in a mailroom, porter, facilities, or general services role
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Physically fit and happy carrying out manual handling duties
- Able to prioritise workloads and work independently
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail
Desirable Experience for a Facilities & General Services Assistant:
- Previous facilities management experience
- Experience moving furniture or completing office relocations
- Reprographics or print room experience
