Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Engineer (HVAP) to join our team on a continental shift pattern. In this role, you will oversee and manage planned and reactive maintenance activities, working closely with the Engineering Supervisor, Shift Leader, and client representatives to ensure all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with site policies and health & safety legislation.
As an Authorised Person (HVAP), you will be responsible for completing all safety documentation, control procedures, and work permits to the highest standards, ensuring that maintenance and operational tasks are carried out in accordance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
Key Responsibilities
Deliver routine maintenance across all building plant, equipment, and systems to meet or exceed SLAs
Respond to BMS alarms and carry out emergency repairs as required
Issue, control, and enforce Permit to Work systems
Produce and implement switching schedules, SOPs, and EOPs in line with company policies and SSOW
Maintain evaporative cooling and domestic water systems in compliance with L8 regulations
Ensure the availability and management of appropriate spare parts
Maintain accurate maintenance records using REALM task sheets
Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS) for all in-house activities
Supervise engineering subcontractors to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and site procedures
Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, and clients
Promote a safe and healthy working environment in line with company and client policies
Represent the business professionally to clients and visitors, delivering excellence in customer service
Maintain and develop professional and technical competence through continuous learning
Ensure all work packs include required documentation, including subcontractor RAMS reviews
Take responsibility for personal training and development updates
Support site incidents and unplanned fault resolution
Carry out all HV Authorised Person (HVAP) duties applicable to the role
Experience & Skills Required
Qualifications & Certifications
HV Authorisation (essential)
Current Wiring Regulations Certificate
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
Emergency First Aid at Work
Manual Handling Training (advantageous)
PASMA and IPAF (preferred)
Experience
Proven experience in a similar role within a business-critical or data centre environment
Demonstrable experience managing real-time incidents and faults in critical infrastructure settings
Strong understanding of health & safety obligations related to maintenance activities
Experience working with multiple interlinked systems, including Fire, PMS, and BMS
