We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager (QHSE Manager) based in Slough.
The role takes responsibility for leading all aspects of developing, implementing and maintaining agreed QHSE and other legal operating standards across three large data centre buildings within a critical environment campus.
Working as part of an integrated team alongside Site Business Managers, operational teams, and client HSE representatives, you will be site-based and responsible for supporting campus-wide compliance and assurance activities.
Role Responsibility
- Develop site QHSE strategy and objectives aligned with wider business objectives.
- Work with wider technical and operational teams to continually improve QHSE systems.
- Maintain and improve the Integrated Risk Management System, including guidance, core arrangements, and risk control processes.
- Monitor and engage with site teams and subcontractors to embed a positive safety culture and behaviours.
- Prepare and deliver weekly QHSE updates to operational shift teams.
- Mentor site-based Risk Champions and support ongoing development.
- Ensure the campus remains audit-ready at all times.
- Lead QHSE and compliance audits, including customer, tenant, and internal audits.
- Support staff training and development to improve awareness and understanding of QHSE responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain site-specific QHSE arrangements aligned with client requirements.
- Manage the annual QHSE audit and assurance programme to maintain ISO compliance and accreditation standards.
- Support the Account Manager in driving operational performance, business continuity, and robust governance processes.
- Produce QHSE reporting for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews.
- Contribute to Risk Register reviews and holistic risk management processes.
- Support implementation and maintenance of Crisis Management and Business Continuity Plans.
- Lead accident and incident reporting processes and support investigations to identify root causes and behavioural trends.
- Monitor and report on contract QHSE performance, including critical works and compliance control.
- Support supply chain compliance through audits, assessments, and operational reviews.
- Provide professional leadership across Health, Safety, Risk, and Environmental reporting requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
- Professional Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent or currently working towards qualification.
- Strong knowledge of Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental legislation and industry best practice.
- Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH, IEMA, and Auditor Training.
- Experience within hard technical services, facilities management, or critical environments/data centres.
- Experience implementing and maintaining QHSE systems within an Integrated Facilities Management environment.
- Strong stakeholder and client relationship management skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Office and IT skills.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced critical environment.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Client-facing and professional approach.
- Team player with the ability to influence positive behavioural culture.
Desirable
- Industry-standard H&S accreditations or IEMA Diploma.
- Formal quality training and/or IQA qualification.
- Commercial understanding of FM contracts and operational business processes.
