The Role: Electrical Maintenance Shift Engineer (Shift Technician)
You’ll play a key role in the smooth, safe and efficient operation of a state-of-the-art data center environment. You will ensure the reliability of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure through proactive maintenance, testing and real-time issue resolution.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Driving safety, efficiency and high-performance culture across the site
- Making sure all operations meet industry standards and statutory requirements
- Planning and delivering maintenance and repair tasks, including managing specialist subcontractors
- Responding to incidents, troubleshooting issues and providing on-call support where required
- Keeping detailed records of all work completed, identifying improvements and implementing effective solutions
- Supporting and guiding more junior engineers, helping to build a strong and capable team
- Demonstrating advanced technical capability across electrical and mechanical systems
- Writing and reviewing operating procedures and assisting with critical maintenance/change planning
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in mission-critical environments (data centres, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, banking, etc.)
- Technical training or education in Electrical, Mechanical or HVAC engineering
- Strong skills in maintaining systems such as:
- High & Low Voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators
- Chillers, CRAC/CRAH, cooling towers, pumps, pipework
- BMS systems for monitoring and control
- Preferably trained in electrical switching & isolation procedures
- Good computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability and willingness to work shifts in a 24/7 operation
- A proactive, customer-focused mindset with great attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- A hands-on, solution-driven approach
