Our client are one of the leading commercial M&E maintenance providers, with a number of high-profile customers across sectors including real estate, financial services, pharmaceutical, etc. With recent award of one of the highest-profile contracts (scope / ambition), and gradual mobilisation of the engineering delivery team, they now seek electrical-bias M&E engineers to join their existing and growing team, based in the West London area. This will eventually comprise a mixed-use development and include elements of both commercial office, residential and retail space, as well as live entertainment (concerts, sporting, etc). Curently working on a Monday-Friday basis until “go live” in April 2026, the team will be adopting a 24/7 “4 on / 4 off” shift pattern after handover from main contractor. Basic salary for these positions is fixed at £50,000 and also includes a shift allowance of £5,000.

Candidates must be fully qualified in electrical engineering, ideally through a full apprenticeship, and possess 5+ years experience in a similar shift role within commercial building services / FM. Additional training such as 2391, Low / High Voltage Authorisation F-Gas, Water Treatment, Cooling Towers, etc will be beneficial. Typical duties within the role are as follows;

  1. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, servicing, and repairs of electrical & mechanical systems and equipment such as HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and other assets
  2. Conduct planned preventative maintenance to ensure the ongoing reliability and efficiency of systems.
  3. Respond promptly and effectively to faults, breakdowns, and emergency situations, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  4. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues using appropriate tools and techniques, and determine the most effective course of action for repair.
  5. Coordinate and liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely resolution of engineering issues and maintenance requirements.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, equipment data, and any necessary documentation.
  7. Adhere to health and safety guidelines and regulations at all times, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and those around you.
  8. Stay informed about industry trends, advances in technology, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to enhance maintenance processes and procedures.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as an M&E Engineer or similar role, ideally within a facilities management or property services environment.
  2. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery, including HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and associated controls.
  3. Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults, and conducting planned preventative maintenance.
  4. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work swiftly under pressure to resolve issues.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors.
  6. Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  7. Relevant qualifications in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  8. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
  9. Flexibility to work on shifts and participate in an on-call rota.

Employee Benefits:

  • Overtime x1.5 on weekday and x2 on weekends + day in lieu on bank holidays
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata into shifts for shift workers)
  • Company funded health cash plan
  • Ability to buy and sell holidays – buy 5 days & sell 2 days
  • Life assurance
  • Auto-enrolment company pension scheme
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Purchase an electric vehicle via salary sacrifice
  • Employee discounts with various brands

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a newly created contract, and further broad experience across a range of different premises. A large square foot area, it requires motivated and enthusiastic engineers not looking for an easy life and who want to help contribute to 5* delivery for one of the most high profile and ambitious developments within the UK this decade. Suiting those in the West London area looking to work local to home, and joining a newly-assembled team, this is a rare chance to join a leader within commercial FM services on an iconic and historic development.
