Through its Infrastructure Engineering function, the Property Department is responsible for maintaining and safeguarding the organisation’s built environment. This includes delivering resilient engineering services across office, production, and data centre environments to ensure continuous business operations and support major capital projects.

The Engineering Team The Engineering team consists of approximately 56 full-time professionals, providing 24/7 engineering support across three critical sites. These sites include office accommodation, production environments, and data centre infrastructure, all of which require highly reliable engineering services to support mission-critical operations.

Role Overview As a Shift Technician, you will play a key role in delivering reliable, high-performance engineering services across the estate. You will carry out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, ensuring critical systems operate safely, efficiently, and without interruption.

Working closely with the Shift Leader, OEM contractors, and fellow engineers, you will help maintain system uptime, support statutory compliance, and promote a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations

  • Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) using the Planon IWMS platform.
  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance tasks, prioritising safety, compliance, and operational continuity.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant and systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose engineering faults, prioritise corrective actions, and implement repairs.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, public health, fire safety, and other critical building systems.
  • Support statutory inspections, compliance testing, and life safety monitoring activities.
  • Act as an Authorised Person (AP) for low-voltage electrical and/or mechanical systems in line with Safe Systems of Work.
  • Provide accurate technical updates for shift handovers, reports, and operational documentation.

Compliance & Safety

  • Work collaboratively with OEM contractors during planned maintenance and emergency interventions.
  • Promote a strong Health & Safety culture, acting as a safety ambassador on site.
  • Ensure service delivery standards and compliance obligations are consistently met.
  • Participate in the weekly on-call rota, incident response activities, and resilience exercises.
  • Complete mandatory training, competency assessments, and annual performance objectives.

Essential Qualifications & Certifications

  • City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Eligibility for Security Check (SC) clearance (sponsored by the organisation).

Technical Experience

  • Experience using IWMS platforms, ideally Planon, and handheld HMI devices.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, BMS, electrical, public health, and life safety systems.
  • Previous experience operating as an Authorised Person (AP) for LV and/or HV systems.
  • Familiarity with formal Safe Systems of Work and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
