Cleaning

As the COVID-19 pandemic still wreaks havoc across the world, the term ‘deep cleaning’ has fast become an essential part of everyday vocabulary for almost every business. It is now become crucial for business organisations to make a serious effort towards developing new cleaning strategies and policies to control the spread of the virus and protect public health. As a result, PRS Jobs has seen a huge rise in demand for cleaners and is now looking to fill a wide range of cleaning jobs in London. If you are a professional cleaner or considering a career change into the cleaning industry, there has never been a better time to be a jobseeker.

What Does Deep Cleaning Really Mean?

There is no common definition of deep cleaning, every organisation has their own unique way of differentiating between its general cleaning and deep cleaning practises. However, deep cleaning procedures go beyond traditional cleaning tasks and incorporates heavy duty disinfection to eliminate the potential of viruses to spread through contact with contaminated surfaces.

General cleaning – involves the wiping down of surfaces, cleaning of windows, sanitising areas that come into contact with consumables, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors.

Deep cleaning – typically conducted overnight, on the weekend or out of business hours, it involves the use of stronger chemicals that need to be cleared out of a room before it can be occupied again. Deep cleaning services also pay much more meticulous attention to detail. Cleaning staff will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and use specialised tools such as ultra-low volume foggers that disperse chemical agents, killing viruses and bacteria.

Does Deep Cleaning Completely Remove Viruses?

There is no cleaning system that is 100% perfect, however when done correctly, deep cleaning can add a layer of safety that general cleaning practises can't provide. There is also no such thing as a permanent cleaning solution, so if someone with COVID-19 or other infectious virus enters the space soon after a deep clean, they could potentially spread the virus through surface contact and another deep clean will be needed.

Cleaners are Now in High Demand

While frequent cleaning has always been standard in most commercial settings, hospitals, schools, public transport services, hospitality venues, gyms and other small and large businesses, professional cleaning firms have seen a rapid rise in demand that isn’t expected to cease any time soon. All businesses are giving extra special attention to the cleaning of high-touch surfaces on a daily basis and many are in need of constant deep cleaning after COVD-19 exposure. Commercial cleaning has never been more important – it ensures businesses are doing everything they can to stop the spread, keep staff and clients safe and keep operating in this difficult time.
