The Position and Role As Chief Engineer – M&E Services, you’ll be responsible for the smooth running, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all mechanical and electrical systems across the site. You will work closely with internal teams, service partners, and contractors to ensure a safe and efficient operating environment.This is a role that combines operational leadership with technical depth, offering a genuine opportunity to influence how the site is run from its earliest stages.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the day-to-day management of all M&E systems.
- Supporting the commissioning and operational readiness of the facility.
- Managing in-house engineers and external contractors to deliver high-quality service.
- Developing site-specific maintenance strategies and safety procedures.
- Ensuring all documentation, drawings, and maintenance records are kept up to date.
- Promoting health and safety and supporting energy efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Acting as the subject matter expert for M&E services on site.
Candidate Requirements
- 7+ years’ experience in mechanical/electrical services, with at least 5 years in the data centre or critical environment sector.
- Trade-qualified or degree-educated in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Sound knowledge of data centre infrastructure and operational best practices.
- Experience leading technical teams or managing outsourced service partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret technical documentation.
- Commissioning/start-up experience is desirable but not essential.
- A proactive, team-oriented attitude and excellent communication skills.
