Position: Mechanical & Vehicle Support Technician
Location: Carlisle
Type: Permanent
Salary: £34,900 – £37,700
Hours/times: 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri, 07:30 – 15:30 (with some flexibility)
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Mechanical & Vehicle Support Technician (BUE Technician) to join a dedicated team of Engineers in the maintenance of emergency and backup vehicles, generators and mechanical plant. The role is based from Carlisle and may involve emergency call-out.
Package details:
£34900 plus circa £2800 standby = circa £37k PA
24 days holiday plus statutory
Training available including FLT and HGV training
Mechanical and Vehicle Technician / Engineer Description:
- To provide maintenance and upkeep of backup vehicles including cars / trucks, military grade equipment
- To provide mechanical maintenance to generators and backup plant equipment
- To complete repairs to the mechanical plant and vehicles where required
- To assist in the deployment of the equipment when required and ensure safe operation
- Troubleshoot and fault find on mechanical plant and vehicles
- Complete extra training including vehicle specific (HGV / Fork lift etc)
- Document issues, solutions, and standard procedures
- To move equipment and stock within the storage facility – Fork lift operations
Mechanical and Vehicle Technician / Engineer Requirements:
· Qualified to NVQ Level 3 standard in a Mechanical / Vehicular Engineering
· Valid driving license
· Ideally to hold a Fork Lift license but not essential as this may be provided
· Able to pass a DBS and a CTC security check
· Experience of working on a range of vehicle types
· Ideally to have worked on generators and backup systems
· Former military and agricultural candidates are welcome to apply
· Able to be included on the emergency response standby (hence the standby payment included)
· To have worked in a maintenance environment
· To be able to operate equipment and therefore undertake training to accomplish this
