Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Hours: 40 Hours Per Week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £40,000 – £44,000 Depending on Experience
Location: South London
A leading Facilities Management provider is seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join the team at a high-profile government site. This is a permanent, full-time position offering stability, professional growth, and the chance to work on a prestigious contract within a critical environment.
The Role
The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems across the government facility. Duties will include planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and reactive call-outs, as well as ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and industry standards. The role demands high levels of technical competence, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance on building services systems (lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, etc).
- Diagnose faults and implement timely repairs to minimise downtime.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and statutory requirements.
- Complete service reports, maintenance records, and compliance documentation accurately.
- Support site operations by responding quickly to urgent issues and maintaining strong communication with the facilities team.
- Participate in an on-call rota where required.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation/Maintenance.
- 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.
- Experience in electrical fault finding and maintenance within commercial or public buildings.
- Strong understanding of health & safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled team.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Desirable
- Test & Inspection (2391 or equivalent).
- Experience working on government or secure sites.
- Familiarity with CAFM systems.
