Location: Field-based / UK
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

We are working with an innovative and fast-growing technical services provider that is redefining how Facilities Management and life safety services are delivered.

Operating in a highly competitive market where margins are tight and expectations are rising, the business has built its reputation on a fresh, collaborative approach. By combining in-house expertise with carefully selected specialist partners, they help FM providers and asset owners deliver higher quality, more sustainable and value-driven services.

This approach—focused on collaboration rather than traditional outsourcing—enables clients to improve performance, upskill their teams and achieve better long-term outcomes. At its core, the organisation is committed to adding value beyond manpower, championing engineering excellence and supporting the next generation of technical talent.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Technical Supervisor to act as the senior technical authority across AOV and smoke ventilation systems.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring systems are fully compliant, correctly configured and capable of performing under real-world fire conditions—protecting life, maintaining safe escape routes and supporting emergency response.

You will oversee complex fault diagnosis, commissioning validation and system performance while supporting and developing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Authority & Escalation
• Act as the primary escalation point for Level 1–3 Engineers
• Lead complex fault diagnosis across panels, devices, wiring and system interfaces
• Provide expert guidance across AOV and smoke ventilation systems
System Integrity & Compliance
• Interpret and validate cause & effect against fire strategy
• Ensure correct system sequencing, configuration and fail-safe operation
• Maintain compliance with BS EN 12101, BS 9999 and manufacturer standards

Commissioning & Validation
• Oversee commissioning and system validation
• Verify control logic, performance and integration with fire alarms, dampers, fans and BMS systems
• Support panel configuration and system adjustments where required

Technical Expertise
• Work across specialist systems including Colt, Advanced Air, Actionair and SE Controls
• Diagnose faults across control panels, I/O signals and system logic
• Ensure systems operate effectively to control smoke movement and maintain safe conditions

Quality, Audits & Documentation
• Review and approve inspection reports, commissioning records and remedial recommendations
• Conduct technical audits and site quality checks
• Maintain high standards of documentation and system traceability

Leadership & Development
• Supervise and mentor engineering teams
• Support training, competency development and CPD delivery
• Drive continuous improvement in technical standards

Client Engagement
• Liaise with clients, consultants and contractors on technical matters
• Provide expert advice on system performance, compliance and lifecycle considerations

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Technical Expertise
• Extensive experience in AOV and smoke ventilation systems
• Strong knowledge of Colt, Advanced Air, Actionair and SE Controls
• Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic capability
• Strong understanding of control systems, cause & effect and system integration
• Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and system drawings

Skills & Attributes
• Strong leadership and decision-making ability
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• High attention to detail with a focus on safety and compliance
• Proactive, solutions-driven and technically credible

Desirable
• IOSH Managing Safely
• Experience commissioning smoke control systems
• Knowledge of BMS systems (Trend, Siemens, Honeywell or similar)
• IPAF / PASMA
• Familiarity with CAFM systems

Career Development opportunities – This role represents the highest level of technical responsibility within the engineering structure, with progression opportunities into:
• Senior Technical Authority roles
• Operational or Contract Management
• Project Leadership
