Overview We are seeking a Data Centre Supervisor to join a growing Data Centre Solutions team in London.
This is a key leadership role within a mission-critical environment, combining hands-on technical expertise with team leadership and operational responsibility. It is ideally suited to an experienced engineer or supervisor who thrives in high-performance, safety-critical settings.
Role Summary As a Data Centre Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all site infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and critical systems.
Acting as the lead engineer on site, you will oversee maintenance delivery, contractor performance, compliance, and team coordination, while promoting technical excellence, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture within a 24/7 operational environment.
Key Responsibilities Technical Operations & Maintenance
- Operate, inspect, and maintain electrical and mechanical (M&E) systems
- Carry out high-voltage (HV) switching and isolations
- Supervise Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Coordinate repairs and corrective works with engineers and subcontractors
- Support and participate in Quality Assurance (QA) processes
Compliance, Documentation & Change Management
- Prepare and implement:
- SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- MOPs (Method of Procedure)
- EOPs (Emergency Operating Procedures)
- Permits to Work (PTW)
- Risk Assessments and Change Control documentation
- Ensure subcontractors comply with site procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations
- Review and sign off contractor works, escalating issues where required
- Maintain accurate asset records, maintenance logs, and technical reports
- Monitor critical spares and inventory levels
Leadership & Team Management
- Oversee the day-to-day performance of shift and day engineering teams
- Coordinate holiday and sickness cover to maintain operational resilience
- Mentor and develop engineers, technicians, and apprentices
- Promote a high-performance, safety-first culture
- Support ongoing training and development aligned with competency frameworks
Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE)
- Champion QHSE standards through:
- Hazard reporting
- Near-miss investigations
- Toolbox talks
- Promote a proactive, zero-incident safety culture
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and company policies
- Lead by example in maintaining safe systems of work and operational discipline
Skills & Experience Essential
- Proven experience in a data centre, critical environment, or facilities management supervisory role
- HNC / HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a recognised engineering apprenticeship
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical systems (LV/HV)
- Mechanical and HVAC systems
- Critical infrastructure environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational skills with a high level of accountability
- IT proficiency, including CAFM / CMMS systems and standard business tools
Desirable
- Experience in mission-critical or high-availability environments (e.g. data centres)
- HV Authorised Person (AP) status
- Experience managing contractors and multi-disciplinary teams
