Data Centre Supervisor (Critical Facilities / Engineering Lead) 📍 London | 💼 Full-Time, Permanent | 💰 Competitive Salary + Benefits + Training & Progression
Overview We are recruiting a Data Centre Supervisor to join a growing Critical Facilities / Data Centre Solutions team in London.
This is a key leadership role within a mission-critical environment, combining hands-on Electrical & Mechanical (M&E) expertise with team leadership and operational responsibility. Ideal for an experienced Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Supervisor looking to step into or further develop within data centre or critical infrastructure environments.
You will be responsible for maintaining uptime, resilience, and operational excellence across all site infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and critical systems within a 24/7 high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities Technical Operations & Maintenance
- Operate, inspect, and maintain electrical and mechanical (M&E) systems
- Carry out high-voltage (HV) switching, isolations, and safe systems of work
- Supervise Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Coordinate repairs, fault finding, and corrective works with engineers and subcontractors
- Support and contribute to Quality Assurance (QA) processes and technical standards
Compliance, Documentation & Change Management
- Prepare and implement:
- SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- MOPs (Method of Procedure)
- EOPs (Emergency Operating Procedures)
- Permits to Work (PTW)
- Risk Assessments & Change Control documentation
- Ensure subcontractors comply with site procedures, RAMS, and safety standards
- Review, approve, and sign off contractor works, escalating issues where required
- Maintain accurate asset registers, maintenance logs, and technical reports
- Monitor and manage critical spares, stock levels, and inventory control
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead the day-to-day performance of engineering teams (shift and day)
- Coordinate holiday, sickness, and resource planning to ensure site coverage
- Mentor, support, and develop engineers, technicians, and apprentices
- Deliver toolbox talks, daily briefings, and performance oversight
- Promote a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE)
- Champion Health & Safety and QHSE standards across site operations
- Lead hazard reporting, near-miss investigations, and safety initiatives
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, company policies, and safe systems of work
- Drive a zero-incident, safety-first culture within a critical environment
- Lead by example in maintaining operational discipline and best practice
Skills & Experience Essential
- Proven experience in a data centre, mission-critical, or facilities management supervisory role
- HNC / HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a recognised engineering apprenticeship
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical systems (LV/HV)
- Mechanical systems and HVAC (cooling, plant, etc.)
- Critical infrastructure / high-availability environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with CAFM / CMMS systems, reporting tools, and documentation control
- Ability to work under pressure in a live, 24/7 operational environment
Desirable
- Experience within data centres or mission-critical environments
- HV Authorised Person (AP) or working towards
- Experience managing contractors and multi-disciplinary teams
- Knowledge of change management and compliance frameworks
